The first day of the Third Test at Edgbaston was abandoned without a ball bowled due to heavy rain. The decision was made at 15:35 GMT, that the game was to be abandoned, by the umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Tony Hill, which was unsuprising.
England are seeking a 3-0 test series whitewash over the West Indies, after putting on a very convincing bowling display, although some small doubts remain over the batting performances. England beat the Windies by 5 wickets in the first test a Lord's with a few minor scares. Stuart Broad doing phenomenally with the ball, taking 11 wickets in the match. In the second test, England dominated the West Indies, winning by a huge 9 wickets, Strauss being the star of the show, hitting a massive 141.
No.1 batsman in the world, Shivnarine Chanderpaul is a doubt after a scan on a side injury he had on Thursday. This will be music to England's ears if he is unable to play as he has proved incredibly difficult to get out, after scoring 87 not out and 91 in the first test at Lord's
Spectators that went to the first day of the third test at Edgbaston are entitled to a full refund on their tickets. England will hope for no more washouts, as they hope to achieve a series whitewash, which has now been severly dampened by the wet weather.
